Latest Updates from Our Project:

10 days left! Sample pictures! New stretch goals!
about 5 years ago – Wed, Feb 27, 2019 at 11:18:28 PM

Dear backers,

with only 10 days left before the end of our campaign, we're in the middle of the slowest period of a Kickstarter campaign. Despite this, albeit slowly, more stretch goals have been unlocked since our last update (we're at 29 now). This means it's time to reveal some more! But first, a small backer-requested production update.

We're finally able to show you a picture of the card sleeve sample! These will be high-quality, thick card sleeves with a 110 micron thickness (as premium as you can get), and as you can see even just from the picture, they are quite sturdy! The sample shown is just a standard evaluation material, but as you know our sleeves will be fully customized for Alone, and the sleeves for the Reaction cards will have a translucent artwork printed, allowing you to add a scary character to the back of your cards!

We didn't receive the playmat and dice samples yet, so we can't show you any pictures, but we'll keep you posted. We'll share news as soon as they will be available!

Let's make a quick overview of the new stretch goals you unlocked since the last update, before taking a glimpse at the new ones! First, you unlocked the KS-exclusive custom dice bag, a "quality of life" upgrade that will be included with all the pledge levels of this campaign, for free. Then, it was the turn of another KS-exclusive, a set of 8 acrylic Danger tokens, followed by our answer to a popular backer request: the Evil Avatar rules, that will give each Evil player the option to control a personal avatar on the Map, and move it around to trigger position-based effects that can boost the strength of their Creatures, create additional dangers for the Hero, and so on. This is not a risk-less power up for the Evil players, though: if the Hero manages to kill an Evil avatar, they'll unlock a huge bonus! Now that we're on the road to unlock the next strecth goal unlocking at 203'000€, a set of 15 acrylic Charge tokens, let's go to the juicy bits of this update! Here come new stretch goals!

The last few miniatures that were unlocked were all Hero-centric. We're concentrating on the Evil players for many of the next stretch goals! The first new Evil Creature we're revealing, unlocking at 208'000€, is the "Hybrid from the Deep" (and related Mission card), another kind of alien-infected cultist inspired by the real-life fungus Ophiocordyceps unilateralis, an ant parasite causing a phenomenon that was very adequately nicknamed "zombie ants". These mindless drones are cultists, living in the deepest galleries of the alien planet where Alone is set, that have been infected by an alien, coral-like colonial lifeform whose only goal is to spread itself as much as possible. When they infect another living being, these parasites quickly colonize their central nervous system and condition their behaviour: these Hybrids will seek other living beings and attack them, to allow the alien parasite to infect them too! The Mission card included with this stretch goal will allow you to use this Boss Creature in your custom scenarios.

Unlocking at 209'000€, the next stretch goal is the set of "Mob rules" allowing you to use the Hybrid from the Deep as a regular Creature, even when its Mission card is not in play.

Finally, unlocking at 211'000€, a Kickstarter-exclusive set of 6 Mission tokens made with translucent acrylic plastic! These can be used on the Map by the Evil players, and on the Hero board by the Hero player in place of the regular Mission tokens made with cardboard, to mark the Rooms the Hero needs to reach to complete their Missions. Another Kickstarter-exclusive, backer-requested "upgraded" component that will allow you to improve the look and feel of your game.

That's all for now, folks. We are constantly working behind the scenes, and we have more stretch goals to reveal... as always, stay tuned!

Sincerely,

the Horrible team

Introducing "Backer Request" stretch goals! Plastic tokens, Evil Avatar rules, more!
about 5 years ago – Fri, Feb 22, 2019 at 08:52:25 PM

Dear backers,

the campaign's been chugging along quite nicely up to now. With 26 unlocked stretch goals and counting, we're now at a point where we can start doing some really cool stuff with our stretch goals ;)

Since we're quite close to unlocking the KS-exclusive custom cloth bag with stitched Alone logo, that will allow you to store your dice in style, we're revealing some new stretch goals (with more to come at a later point, too). Many of the future new stretch goals will be branded as "Backer Request" stretch goals. These are cool ideas that were proposed by you in your comments and messages that, after a still ongoing internal discussion and quite a bit of planning, have been considered feasible. And with your help, we can make them real!

The first of these backer-requested stretch goals, unlocked at 195'000€, is a Kickstarter-exclusive component upgrade: an upgraded set of 8 Danger tokens, made with translucent acrylic plastic! While they don't cover the whole set of cardboard tokens included in the game (there's more than 70!), they are enough to cover the Labyrinth action (i.e. the "zoomed-in" view area visible to both the Hero and the Evil players. Please note that what is depicted below is just a digital render, we'll share pictures of pre-production samples along the route, as soon as they are available!

Coming next, unlocking at 199'000€, another backer-requested stretch goal we're very excited to announce: the Evil Avatar rules! Born after a stroke of inspiration hit Hjalmar Hach, one of our internal game designers (author of world-wide successes such as Photosynthesis, Kick-Ass and Railroad Ink), the Evil Avatar rules will give each Evil player the option to control a personal avatar on the Map, and move it around to trigger position-based effects that can boost the strength of your Creatures, create additional dangers for the Hero, and so on. But beware of being too near to the Hero! If they manage to kill your avatar, they'll unlock a huge bonus!

The rules will allow you to choose among different special powers linked to one of the Reaction decks and one of the many Boss Creature miniatures available in the game, to differentiate your gameplay style from the other Evil players.

The final backer-requested stretch goals we're revealing today, unlocking at 203'000€, is another Kickstarter-exclusive component upgrade: a set of 15 Charge tokens made with translucent acrylic plastic! These can be used by the Hero player on the Item cards they Scavenge during the game, for an improved look and feel while they hamper with their devices and try to make them deadlier.

This is all for today. We hope you'll like what we revealed so far, and rest assured: we have more surprises in store for you!

Sincerely,

the Horrible team

Alone Invades Zombicide!
about 5 years ago – Thu, Feb 21, 2019 at 09:54:43 PM

Dear backers,

we have a small neat surprise for you! In cooperation with our dear friends and partners at CMON Limited, we've created a crossover between Alone and Zombicide!

Sarah King, Jen Miller, Carlos Torres and Gwansun Costa, our beloved crew of desperate heroes trying to escape the dangers of the unknown planet they've crashed onto, are all now playable as a Gang of Survivors in CMON's latest entry in the acclaimed Zombicide series: Zombicide: Invader!

Gangs of Survivors are groups of themed character that all share a common rule. The "Get Alone Gang" members start the game with the "Hit & Run" ability as an additional Skill at Blue Level, for free.

The Get Alone Gang promo card set, including 4 ID cards and 1 Rules card that will let you play the 4 Alone core characters as Survivors in Zombicide: Invader, is now included by default with all our stretch goals. We can't wait to use the miniatures of the Captain, the Pilot, the Engineer and the Medic in our Zombicide: Invader games, and we hope you'll have fun with this nice crossover too!

Note: to use these promo cards, you need to own both the Alone core box and Zombicide: Invader.

Sincerely,
the Horrible team

Assault Hero mini almost done, add on samples status, and a small surprise coming later today!
about 5 years ago – Thu, Feb 21, 2019 at 04:58:38 PM

Dear backers,

the last few days have been quite slow, but we've been still unlocking a few stretch goals along the way. The latest one was the Assault Hero miniature, a new character to increase your gameplay options when you create your custom scenarios. To celebrate the event, here are the newest photos we've been sent by Stéphane Simon! The sculpture is basically done at this point, only a few final finitions are missing. Check it out!

Some of you have been asking more details regarding our optional buys, and we didn't forget nor ignored your questions! While we're not at a stage where we can show you real pre-production samples, we're waiting for evaluation samples from our manufacturer. They won't have any Alone graphics or symbols on them yet, but they will still be highly indicative of the general finish and quality you can expect from the final products. More on these in a later update (hopefully very soon)!

Finally, a small teaser: we have a small cool surprise we'll announce later today, something kinda coming out of left field... stay tuned! ;)

Sincerely,

the Horrible team

What a wonderful way to wake up! 16 stretch goals unlocked, and more are coming!
about 5 years ago – Thu, Feb 21, 2019 at 01:18:05 PM

Dear backers,

with day 2 just starting, we already unlocked 16 stretch goals. This is simply astonishing. We could never, ever ask for a better way to wake up after last night! We would like to spend a few words to comment a few of the unlocked stretch goals... you've been unlocking them too fast, we simply didn't have time to describe each one of them! But don't worry, we're unveiling new stretch goals, and more will come later too ;)

The Spider from the Deep is an additional Boss Creature. Thanks to the Mission card included in this stretch goal, you'll be able to fight this fierce beast in your custom scenarios. If you take a look at the work-in-progress pictures below, right from Stéphane Simon's working desk, you can get an idea of its dimensions relative to a regular hero figure... it is huge.

SInce we also unlocked the mob rules for this miniature, you will also be able to use this miniature as a regular Creature, if you so desire, without the need for its Mission card to be in play.

We also unlocked a new double sided map board (C1-C2), that will complement the two ones included in the core game and the one from the KS-Exclusive expansion. Not much more to say about this other than we heard you: this won't be a foldable board, it will be like the A1-A2 and B1-B2 map boards from the core box ;)

The next unlocked stretch goal is the Armoured Hero miniature. Its character card with fight-oriented skills will add more variety to your games. Take a look at a few more pictures from Stéphane's work desk!

The next two mob rules unlocked will allow you to use as regular Creatures two more Boss Creatures, the Alpha Parasite and the Alpha Hybrid.

After this, another big Boss Creature was unlocked: the Nest. You can consider it as an "Alpha Spore", if you will. Take a look at more work-in-progress pictures to get an idea of its dimensions!

After two more sets of mob rules for the newly unlocked Nest and the Android (from the Alpha expansion), during the Italian night you unlocked another extremely cool stretch goal, at a very meaningful pledge amount. For 89'213€ (the amount of money we raised at the end of our first campaign), you got the Stealth Hero miniature and its associated Character card! It is a really cool looking miniature, and we're happy it was unlocked so fast. It's also very heartwarming for us to have topped our previous Kickstarter effort in such a short time. We know we're probably starting to sound too mushy at this point, but again: thank you, thank you, thank you!

Following this important stretch goals, you unlocked special rules for the rooms of the game. These will give you a different specific thing to do when you reach a Room as the Hero (e.g. performing an upgrade healing action if you are in the Infirmary). Next, more mob rules (this time for the Alpha Worm, a.k.a. the Worm Queen) and finally, the third big Boss Creature we unlocked so far: the Alpha Android!

This image won't tell you much, but from the skeleton you can get an idea of the dimensions of this Boss.

With more flesh (should we say metal?) on top of its skeleton, the Alpha Android started looking definitely better!

And this is it, for now! You will already find more stretch goals to unlock on our project page, and by the time this update goes live, we may even have unlocked another one. We know this pace can't last for long but... what a great feeling! And we owe all this to you. Once more, dear backers: THANK YOU.

Sincerely,

the Horrible team
