Assault Hero preview, backer feedback & new stretch goals!
about 5 years ago – Wed, Feb 20, 2019 at 11:10:56 PM

Dear backers,

after the first two, incredible days, we eventually entered the so called "Death Valley", A standard phenomenon in Kickstarter campaigns were progress greatly slows down before another huge boost that usually happens towards the end of the campaign. Our progress has indeed slowed down, but it's keeping a steady pace. This does not mean we won't do anything to increase it a little bit, though!

With just about 13'000€ separating us from the next "big" stretch goal, the Assault Hero miniature, we'd like to start this update with the first previews from Stéphane Simon's work desk: the work on this sculpture is still just at the beginning, but you can already start to see the Assault Hero become real :)

Stephane is very quick at his job, other than extremely talented. You will see new updates on the development of this mini quite soon! Hopefully, it will also be unlocked by then :)

While we moved on with our behind-the-scenes work on the game and the future stretch goals we still have to unveil, we've also been listening to backer feedback. You had a few interesting suggestions to make, and some of them can be realized without a huge effort, so... here come new intermediate stretch goals, to fill the gap between us and the Assault Hero!

A popular request has been for a slightly bigger Evil screen. We did a few calculation, and we concluded that we can make it happen. Rookies and Survivors, everyone will be receiving this upgraded game component once unlocked, so don't worry! The goal to unlock this component upgrade is at 156000€, just slightly more than 1000€ are needed! We are confident this "intermediate" stretch goal will be unlocked quite fast. Another popular request has been for additional maps, so... here comes map D! The goal to unlock this second intermediate stretch goal is set at 162000€.

Whenever feasible, we plan to implement more backer suggestions into our already planned stretch goal schedule, so keep the feedback coming! A few more unlocked stretch goals down the line we'll be revealing more, so spread the word and stay tuned!

Sincerely,

the Horrible team

Additional details on the unlocked Mob Rules and Special Rules for Rooms!
about 5 years ago – Wed, Feb 20, 2019 at 11:10:29 PM

Dear backers,

many of you have been asking more details regarding the Mob Rules for Creatures (old and new) and the Special Rules for rooms that were unlocked earlier during the campaign. While the nitty-gritty details still need to go through the final phase of development and balancing, here's a quick overview!

With the Mob Rules, we are adding a new way to use the unique Boss Creatures in your game. In the regular game, each unique Creature comes into play when its specific Mission Card is one of the 3 Mission Cards drawn during the Setup, and the special abilities of such Creatures are listed on the corresponding Mission card. If you decide to use the Mob Rules you can add unique Boss Creatures in a game that does not use the corresponding Mission card. When using the Mob Rules for a specific Creature, the Evil players may spawn that Creature following the normal spawning rules. That Creature will now have the special abilities listed on its Mob Rules, it will be activated using Reaction cards as if it was one of the other Creatures (each unique Creature Mob Rules will specify which Creature Icon is related to that specific Creature, for example, the Spider from the Deep can be activated with Worm cards).

As of now, we've unlocked Mob Rules for 8 Boss Creatures (4 new and 4 old).

With the Special Rules for Rooms we are adding a new reason for the Hero to look for a specific Room, other than to complete their Missions. In the regular game, the only 3 Rooms with specific powers are the 3 Rooms indicated by the Mission cards drawn during the Setup. The only other reason for the Hero to reach a Room is the fact that when he does the Scavenge Action in a Room for the first time, he will get 3 Items instead of just 1.

With these Special Rules, each Room will also have a special power that the Hero may use once per game instead of activating the one-time Scavenge bonus for that Room. For example, while in the Infirmary the Hero may decide to heal, or when in the Laboratory they may decide to recharge an Item. To do so, the Hero player will have to place a charge token on the corresponding Room space on the hero sheet, to mark that he cannot activate the Special Rule of that Room, nor activate the Scavenge bonus for that Room.

Some of you have been asking to add new gameplay features to the game in the comments, both these unlocked stretch goals add new gameplay features and variability to each game you are going to play! Also, consider that each miniature that has been unlocked so far also comes with their bit of attached gameplay, too. Each unlocked Hero character comes with a Character card, giving them an exclusive special ability that makes them play differently from any other Hero, and each unlocked Boss Creature comes with a Mission card, with exclusive gameplay rules and Evil abilities, that can be used in your custom scenarios!

You helped adding these new features, and by spreading the word with your friends about Alone you can help us to add even more. We are also reading all your comments and discussing the ideas you proposed to further improve the game; some of them may become future stretch goals already, so keep them coming!

Sincerely,

the Horrible team

We are at 9 stretch goals in 5 hours, this is crazy! Great job, everyone!
about 5 years ago – Mon, Feb 18, 2019 at 10:12:17 AM

Dear backers,

with 9 backers already behind our backs, we find ourselves without words. Not even in our wildest dreams we would have imagined such a strong start, and we're even quite close to the 10th stretch goal, the huge nest miniature.

It's quite late here in Italy at this point, though, so we're going to take some rest. A night of sweet dream surely awaits us, thanks to your support! Again, we don't have enough words to describe how grateful we are to all of you.

See you tomorrow morning (Italian time)! We'll hopefully have unlocked a few more stretch goals during the night, and we'll take some time to give you more details regarding the stretch goals we already unlocked.

Sincerely,

the Horrible team

7 stretch goals in slightly more than 3 hours! We have no words!
about 5 years ago – Mon, Feb 18, 2019 at 10:10:41 AM

Dear backers,

we simply have no words! We've been to busy answering your comments and updating the project page to post an update at each unlocked stretch goal, as we initially planned. Thank you so much to you all, Survivors, Rookies, the few brave Cult Leaders... all of you!

We would like to take a small break from our answering/updating duties to point out one detail: thanks to your invaluable support, we already unlocked an expansion-worth of new content!

By the end of the campaign, depending on how many more stretch goals will be unlocked, the actual miniatures included in this third game expansion you unlocked may be different, but you can already be sure that you will receive a third expansion, together with the KS-Exclusive and Alpha expansions already included with the Rookie Pledge (or already in the hands of our Survivor Pledge backers).

And now, back to following your comments and updating the project as we unlock more stretch goals!

Sincerely,

the Horrible team

Funded in 37 minutes! First two stretch goals already unlocked!
about 5 years ago – Mon, Feb 18, 2019 at 10:09:19 AM

Dear backers,

Survivors and Rookies alike, we did it already! We barrelled through our goal in 37 minutes, and we also unlocked our first two stretch goals! With the Hybrid Hero miniature, you'll be able to play the Hero as an infected human being, struggling to retain their humanity! This was one of the stretch goals we didn't manage to unlock during our first campaign, and we're more than happy it is finally here!

The second unlocked stretch goal may need a bit of explanation. The Hybrid Hero Mission card will allow you to play against the Hybrid Hero, as an Evil Boss Creature! Imagine the narratives you could build around these two stretch goals ;)

The Hybrid Hero Evil Mob rules, our next stretch goal that will be unlocked at 31'000€, will allow you to also use it as a standard Creature, in place of one of the regular ones. We plan to give additional purposes to more miniatures along the way ;)

We can't express how grateful we are to all of you. Stay tuned for further stretch goal reveals! :)

Sincerely,

the Horrible team
